We are a leader in dementia care with a progressive and innovative approach. Our focus is firmly and consistently placed on enhancing our resident’s quality of life. With a dedicated team we continuously improve our methods and provide training to facilitate exceptional care. The specialised training programmes we invest in combine with our environment of compassion and expertise, placing Alderbrook at the forefront of dementia care.
Cutting-Edge Training and Care
Alderbrook’s collaboration with Leeds United Football Club exemplifies its commitment to holistic care. The club’s weekly exercise classes for residents are designed to enhance movement efficiency and manage symptoms of arthritis and joint pain. These sessions have invigorated our residents, reducing pain and improving mobility, which in turn, lessens the need for hospital admissions. Even though it’s tricky to put a number on the improvements, the positive impact on our residents’ health and happiness is clear to see.
Resident Ambassadors: Bridging Connections
The Resident Ambassador scheme at Alderbrook is an initiative aimed at improving the resident experience. Ambassadors help new residents to settle in by providing tours, introducing them to other residents, and supporting them during family meetings. This program not only eases the transition for new residents but also strengthens the connection between residents, their families, and our care home staff.
Expert Care and Support
Our Care Home Manager, Clare, emphasises the importance of treating residents in a familiar environment.
“The ability to provide care here at home eases local NHS pressures and benefits both residents and staff” she notes.
Treating residents in the comfort of Alderbrook, rather than in a hospital, helps to maintain their emotional well-being and continuity of care.
Thought Leadership in Dementia Care
We have a proactive approach and a self-aware commitment to continuous improvement. Our initiatives not only address the physical needs of our residents, they also support emotional and social well-being, creating a holistic care environment. We will never stop learning, evolving and striving to provide the highest quality and most innovative dementia care possible.
But it’s not just about us. We recognise the valuable input and impact of supportive friends and family for those in our care, we also understand that supporting a person with dementia is not always easy. Bearing this in mind, we have created some simple resources that we hope will offer a little extra support for families and carers navigating this complex condition.
